Along the Andes

 The beginning of a two-month journey along both sides of the Andes. From Lima, travels by bus take us through Peru to the Nazca lines, Arequipa, the Colca Canyon and Tacna before heading down through the Atacama desert into Chile.

 Continuing a two-month journey along both sides of the Andes. After breaking down in the Atacama desert we reach Punta Arenas in Patagonia at the southern tip of Chile. We explore the Torres del Paine National Park on horseback. Then we voyage back north from Puerto Natales through the fjords to Puerto Montt, and stop in Puerto Varas in the Chilean lake district.

 Continuing a two-month journey, we cross the Andes from Chile to Argentinian Patagonia by bus and boat. We journey through the moonscapes, high altitude wine-growing districts and the altiplano salt flats of northwest Argentina. A train journey through Bolivia leads to the world's highest city, and once the world's fourth-largest, legendary Potosí.

 Concluding a two--month journey along both sides of the Andes. From La Paz, Bolivia, we go to Copacabana and the Islands of the Sun and Moon on Lake Titicaca. In Peru, we visit the floating reed islands off Puno enroute to Cuzco. We walk the Inca trail to Machu Picchu. We travel from the Inca mountain stronghold of Cajamarca to the beach resort of Huanchacho. Near Trujillo, we tour the pre-Inca ruins at Chan Chan. Crossing into Ecuador we stop at Cuenca and Quito before flying off to ski in Utah.
